Community Involvement

Service, leadership and philanthropy are some of the immeasurable qualities Laurelwood students learn from participating in different types of community service programs.

Pennies for Patients - Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Laurelwood students take part in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS’s) Pennies for Patients program in the spring. Students collect spare change to support LLS’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food BankEach year, Laurelwood is proud to support the Second Harvest Food Bank, whose mission is to provide food for people in need in our community. In December of every year, Laurelwood brings in several Second Harvest Food Bank barrels which are placed throughout the school for families and students to place canned food donations. Watch the school website for participation dates.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is the trusted leader dedicated to ending local hunger. Since its inception in 1974, Second Harvest has become one of the largest food banks in the nation, providing food to an average of nearly one quarter of a million people each month. Nearly half of the food distributed is fresh produce. Second Harvest also plays a leading role in promoting federal nutrition programs and educating families on how to make healthier food choices.

Cookies for Coats

Cookies for Coats was a sponsored program by Student Council. Our students collected coats, umbrellas, and clothing items from Laurelwood families during the winter season and donated them to families in need. Cookies were given out to anyone that donated as a part of their generosity.
