After School Programs

Millbrook School hosts a number of teacher facilitated after school programs such as student council, choir, Project Cornerstone Club, extended day instruction, etc. This varies from year to year and is based on teacher availability. Each year the following after school programs take place:

Young Rembrandts

Young Rembrandts offers well-organized classes and teaching original, high-quality curriculum in a positive environment. Look for more information on the front of the school website about specific programs and classes.

R.O.C.K. Program

Recreation of City Kids (R.O.C.K) is an afterschool and summer program offering enrichment, recreation, developmental assets, homework assistance, safety and fun for students. During the school year it is operational each school day from the dismissal bell until 6:00 p.m. The City of San Jose operates this program on our campus, through the Millbrook Community Center. After School Hoops

One on One Basketball

After School Hoops is a fun, educational and safe organization that teaches the basics and fundamentals of a variety of fames game. The experienced and knowledgeable staff of One on One Basketball, Inc and O3 Sports meets kids on the blacktops after school and instruct them during skills, drills and games. At Millbrook, the program is on Monday afternoons.

Math Olympiad

The Math Olympiad Program is supported by PTA and run by parent volunteers. MOEMS (Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools) is a contest completed over a period of 5 months. Once every month, from November to March, students will be given one paper with 5 questions to be completed within 30 minutes. The tests are administered on campus. Awards are given at the end of the 5 months, based on the score out of 25 questions total. Students will take the Division E Tests (problems up to 6th grade level).

The goals of the Math Olympiad are:

  • To stimulate enthusiasm and a love for Mathematics
  • To introduce important Mathematical concepts and teach major strategies for problem solving
  • To strengthen Mathematical intuition and foster creativity and ingenuity
  • To provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges

About Math Olympiad at our school:

  • The Math Olympiad Program runs from October until the end of the school year.
  • It is open to 4th – 6th graders, but also to selected advanced, enthusiastic 3rd graders.
  • Registration takes place in October and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Meets once a week every Thursday, 1 – 2:20 p.m. in Room 19 to learn different problem solving techniques and practice solving difficult Math problems.
  • Students will need to do homework every week, which is crucial to learning.
  • The students selected to be part of the team will participate in 5 contests from November to March.
  • Cost of the program: FREE !!!
