Colts come home as Sectional Final Team Champions 2019!!
Boys & Girls Cross Country 2019-20
Our team has a strong tradition of excellence, having won 5 consecutive championship titles from 2013-17! With a positive attitude, discipline, dedication, and hard work we can rebuild our legacy! We have a rich history of spirited and enthusiastic teams that display excellent athleticism and sportsmanship, and this season should be no different. Your coaches are looking forward to an exciting, fast-paced season and we hope you are too! Thank you for your support this season.
Cross Country is a 2 mile race that is run on natural terrain. The team will be competing on dirt trails, running up and down hills, making the races exciting and challenging. The only equipment your athlete needs are running shoes and a water bottle. Above all else, they must have a great attitude! See the cross country bylaws and meet information for more background on logistics and rules of this competitive sport.

Practice, Tryouts & Requirements
Practice, Try Outs & Requirements
You must have a signed online parent/student registration form to attend this tryout.
Our season lasts 8 weeks.
Practice is held Monday -Thursday from 2:45 - 4:15 PM.
Practice begins at 2:45pm on the P.E. roll call numbers outside the locker rooms. You must dress in your P.E. clothes or appropriate athletic attire and running shoes.
We always run 2 warm-up laps on the track and stretch before the workout. Daily runs are typically 3 to 5 miles, and often include hills. We also do sprint workouts and cardio drills to build strength and stamina.
There are NO buses available after practice.
Athletes must be picked up by 4:30 PM. If your ride comes after 4:30 PM you risk ineligibility for the upcoming meet.
Depending on how many students try out for the team, we may limit large numbers for supervision & safety reasons.
There will be a qualifier after roughly 2 weeks of conditioning whereupon the coaches will determine a cut-off time in order to participate in meets.
Team Member Requirements:
You must maintain a 2.0+ GPA to compete in meets, with no Ds, Fs, or U citizenship grades. Grades will be checked at the 1st Quarter Progress Report.

Divisions
Divisions
There are three divisions for each gender:
- 8th grade,
- 7th grade
- “C” (under 5’2”).
Depending on the meet host school’s decision, we take anywhere from 5 to 10 or more runners for each category.
Competitors are determined through qualifiers at practice. The competing roster always changes from meet to meet. If you do not qualify for meet #1, you may still qualify for meet #2; conversely, if you qualify for meet #1, there is no guarantee you will compete in meet #2. Try your best every day and you have a good chance at making the meets.
