2020 Lunar New Year falls on January 25th.

The public holiday lasts from January 24th to 30th, during which the New Year's Eve on January 24th and the New Year's Day on January 25th are the peak time of celebration.

The commonly known New Year calendar counts from the New Year's Eve to the Lantern Festival on February 8th 2020.

According to the old folk customs, the traditional celebration starts even earlier, from the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month.

Rat is the first in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac. The Years of the Rat include 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020, 2032...

Though people consider the rat not adorable, and it even makes its way into derogatory languages, it ranks first on the Chinese zodiac signs. It has characteristics of an animal with spirit, wit, alertness, delicacy, flexibility and vitality.
