Portals are gold spaces equipped with immersive audiovisual technology. When you enter a Portal, you come face-to-face with someone in a distant Portal live and full-body, as if in the same room. Portals are set up at diverse locations including museums, universities, technology hubs, refugee camps and art centers. The Evergreen Portal will have the opportunity to connect with communities throughout the world. Students at Laurelwood have the opportunity to experience the shared portal by entering into a writing contest to answer the following prompt: What would you tell people from another country about Laurelwood? Only 15-20 students will be selected to participate in this Shared Portal Experience. Contest forms are due to the office by Friday, February 2nd.

Laurelwood is working with PEER to bring STEAM workshops to all students. In conjunction with our weekly Lion Character Building Program schedule, we have built in STEAM workshops for our students. Each student will have the opportunity to participate in five STEAM workshops. When Session 1 students are having STEAM workshops, Session 2 students will be receiving a character building lesson and vice versa. STEAM workshops starts on January 24th and ends on May 2nd. STEAM Workshops have been funded by donations from Laurelwood families and PTA. Thank you for your support!
