Student Council

JFS Student Council represents the voice of our students. They help to plan and execute school-wide special activities and provide input on school decisions. Our Student Council consists of five student officers, which include president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and historian. Officers are voted for by upper grade students and reps are chosen by classroom teachers in grades 4-6. Reps will also be given a primary class to represent.

Student Council officer positions are open to all students in grades 4-6 except President. President can only be a 6th grader. Elections are held in the fall. Only students in grades 4-6 can vote for officers. Meetings will be held on the first and third Tuesday of every month - after school from 2:15 to 3:15. Officers and reps are expected to attend EVERY meeting.

Student council is looking for students who are independent and self motivated. Students must do well academically in all subject areas and be able to work well with others. They must set an example in regards to behavior both in AND out of the classroom. Students will be expected to attend ALL meetings. Students will be expected to be responsible for performing their assigned tasks/duties. Should a student not fulfill the expectations of his/her role in student council, then that student will be removed from student council. Student council is a voluntary, non-graded activity. It is provided as a learning experience for students.

The student council, which is overseen by two JFS teachers, manages and/or assists in a few programs such as spirit days, spirit assemblies, Walk N Roll, St. Baldrick's Fundraiser, Candy Gram Sales, and Smencil Gram Sales.
