Have you ever heard someone say, "I can't do it," when faced with a challenging task? It happens all the time and reflects a fixed mindset: the idea that we are either good at something or we aren't. We have all felt this way before and yes, there may be some things we aren't able to do right now, but what if we simply added, "yet" to the previous statement-"I can't do it, YET." This is growth mindset and a foundational belief here is that you must always be willing to continuously improve. In fact, you need to go beyond believing and actually demand it from yourself and from others. It's ok to not be great at something today, but you need to be a little better tomorrow. This shift in thinking is crucial to be successful now and in the future.
