Lobo Families,

COVID-19 is dominating the news and our thoughts right now. Here at Quimby Oak we are working under the direction of our school district and operating within the recommendations from the Santa Clara County Department of Health to keep everyone safe.

There are no known COVID-19 cases within Evergreen School District. We are using precautions to ensure the health of our community. We want to reiterate that this is out of an abundance of precaution and per public health recommendations.

The Department of Public Health has recommended postponing large gatherings and large community events where large numbers of people are within arm's length of one another. In accordance with this recommendation, and out of an abundance of caution, Evergreen School District has decided to postpone community events (i.e. Movie Nights, Science Fairs etc.), some field trips (i.e theater events, hands-on exhibits etc.) as well as many school assemblies through the end of March. This includes the cancellation of the District-wide Science Fair on March 19th. That means, the following will be cancelled at Quimby:

Science Fair 3/19

Exhibitions that involve a community gathering with outside/parent visitors, etc.

Band/Music concerts and events like the Practice-a-thon on 3/21

School Dances

At this time, Lobo Saturday Sessions will take place. Sports will still take place at the middle school level and field trip decisions will be made on a case by case basis.

Other precautions include hand washing reminders, monitoring student health trends and attendance closely, and adjusting janitorial procedures, to name a few. New soap dispensers have been installed recently and extra cleaning supplies have been purchased to disinfect rooms.

Please stay on top of the Evergreen District messaging as we are following every recommendation.

As a reminder:

• Please keep your child home if he or she is sick. We will be flexible with assignments and due dates.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
