School Support Services

LeyVa Middle School strives to promote academic achievement while also supporting the social and emotional needs and college/career-readiness goals of all students. We have a school counselor, school social worker, and school psychologist along with rotating social work interns and marriage and family therapy trainees to support students through different types of challenges and opportunities.

LeyVa offers numerous support services to students including clubs, school-wide events, classroom lessons, connection to family resources, assessment for learning differences, accommodation plans, individual education plans, group counseling, individual counseling, and crisis intervention.

We share your goals for your student: that every LeyVa student graduates with the skills and abilities to succeed in high school and beyond.

Jennifer Walczak

Mrs. Walczak's job is to ensure student success. She does this by providing services in the areas of academic support, social/emotional development, and college and career preparation. These services include: classroom lessons, small group counseling, referrals to outside agencies, connecting families to resources, consultation services, individual counseling, and planning special events and campaigns. If you want to know more about these services or want to request services, please don't hesitate to reach out. Mrs. Walczak's vision is that every student leave LeyVa happy, healthy and prepared and confident for high school and for life.

Mrs. Walczak has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Masters in Education for School Counseling, and Pupil Personnel Services Credential.

Cynthia HowardAs a school social worker, Ms. Howard works to eliminate barriers to learning for students and families. She has been providing support for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children and their parents for over 25 years. At Evergreen Ms. Howard spends some of her time working with students individually and in groups. She also works to support students at risk of truancy, housing insecurity, and other challenges that can impact access to education. Ms. Howard works at multiple schools in the district so the best way to reach her is by email.

Ms. Howard has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Masters of Science in Civil Engineering, PhD in Civil Engineering, Masters of Social Work, and Credentials in Adult Education/Parent Education and Pupil Personnel Services.
