Message from Dr. Flores

Dear Evergreen Staff,

Just when we thought it could not get worse, it did. My heart goes out to our families and staff members who are most directly impacted by these fires and evacuations. Please know that we are here to support you through this difficult time. We are actively monitoring conditions and will shift accordingly, keeping the health and safety needs of our entire district community in mind. Our principals, assistant principals, and office staff are compassionately working with teachers and other site staff members on logistical matters concerning evacuations and addressing specific parent, employee, and site needs.

As we have seen, during this overwhelming and difficult year, each member of our staff has not only shown up but has done so with grace, knowing that the work we do is critical and impacts the lives and futures of our students. I want you to know that we will continue to navigate this most challenging school year with distance learning, potential power rollouts, a pandemic, fires, and possible evacuations by making decisions as well as we can ensuring that we:

  • prioritize the health and safety of our students, parents, and staff
  • actively communicate all new developments with stakeholders
  • evaluate circumstances and pivot as needed

As we close this first week of the school year, I want to recognize the incredible job that our teachers, principals, information services, child nutrition services, and support staff have done to start our school year in distance learning. We have received so much positive feedback and praise from parents about these first few days of school. I recognize how dedicated everyone is to making this approach successful, and how hard each of you is working in each of your roles.

We are a community and family that cares for each of our employees--in facing these challenges together, please contact Johanna Villareal or Cesar Torrico in Human Resources, should you need any physical, mental health, or other resources to assist you. We will continue to stay in communication through email, social media, and our website.

Please continue to stay safe and healthy. Our Evergreen family is stronger together, no matter the circumstances.

Sincerely,

Emy Flores, Ed.D.
